Current Events Blog

At the beginning of the semester each student will be assigned a week in which they will be required to post a blog by Sunday night. The post will need to include the following:

  • Introduces a new current event topic
  • Connects current event to historical content
  • Provides a link to the article from a reliable news source
  • Includes an embedded image, video, chart, cartoon, etc.
  • Includes a reaction to the news article and poses an issue or question for discussion

Digital Portfolio Blog

This year I plan to have all my classes create a digital portfolio using Blogger. The digital portfolio will serve several purposes; keep record of the progress of their work, reflection of completed work, and sharing their work with peers and parents.

Social Justice Project Blogging

This year my 7th & 8th grade students will be assigned a social justice project of their choice at the beginning of the school year. Students will be given prompts on a weekly basis and they will be keeping track of their progress on the project by posting on Blogger

Blogging for Commentary

This year in my 8th grade U.S history class we will be reading two books. Instead of assigning questions to go along with the reading I am going to have the students do a reading response on Blogger. I will be giving students time in class to create a response to the days reading. Once they are done with their response I will ask them to read a classmates response and to post a response. We will use the commentary to ignite class discussion about the reading.
